Mike Vrabel Says Titans Overtime Proposal Was Because He Watched Bills-Chiefs Playoff Game | CBS sports

Titans head coach Mike Vrabel told reporters Monday that this suggestion came from watching the Kansas City Chiefs play the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round, a high-scoring game in which both fourth-quarter offenses score at will collected. The Chiefs won the overtime coin toss, and indeed Patrick Mahomes led the offense down the field and ended the game with a touchdown. It seemed unfair to many that a coin toss would decide a high-stakes playoff fight in this case.

“Unfortunately, like many other teams, I watched the Buffalo-Kansas City game as a fan and saw the ending and felt like maybe our fans would have wanted Josh Allen to have a chance,” Vrabel said via the The Official Website Titans. “I felt like … if you wanted to win the football game you had to validate it with a two-point conversion and if you don’t and shoot the extra point the other team would have the opportunity to have the football.

5 Trades Likely to Happen Before the 2022 NFL Draft | Bleacher report

James Bradberry to the Kansas City Chiefs

Kansas City Chiefs receive: CB James Bradberry

New York Giants Receive: Fourth-round pick 2022 (No. 135)

The Kansas City Chiefs gave themselves both extra draft capital and leeway when they sent Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins. You received a 2022 first-round pick, a 2022 second-round pick, a 2022 fourth-round pick, a 2023 fourth-round pick and a 2023 sixth-round pick from the deal and now have 22, $8 million cap.

The Chiefs could use much of that newfound capital to reload a secondary who ranked 27th in passing yards last season and lost cornerback Charvarius Ward in a free hand.

According to Pro Football Network’s Aaron Wilson, Kansas City are interested in free agent Stephon Gilmore and New York Giants cornerback James Bradberry. According to SNY’s Ralph Vacchiano, the Giants are open to moving Bradberry and pushing back Saquon Barkley.

ESPN’s Jordan Raanan reports that the Giants are likely only asking for a late-round pick for Bradberry. If Kansas City can win him for No. 135 overall — his last 2022 draft pick before the seventh round — it’s a deal worth pursuing.

Bradberry is in the final year of his contract and is expected to cap at $21.9 million. If New York is willing to eat up its $11.7 million dead cap fee in one trade, the Chiefs could potentially add both Bradberry and Gilmore this offseason.

While Bradberry’s acquisition wouldn’t help the Chiefs replace Hill, the 2020 Pro Bowler could make them a well-rounded team. Thanks to the hill trade, the option is on the table.

New KC security guard Justin Reid once famously crossed paths with ex-CEO Daniel Sorensen | Kansas City Star

Knowing what was coming, Sorensen made this game-changing play that resulted in a brief TD drive for the Chiefs:

Did you understand what CBS Sports’ Tony Romo said? Yes, it was a Reid who threw the ball at the fake. Kudos to those who remember was Justin Reid, the new chiefs safety. Although Reid and Sorensen play defense, their paths crossed that day.

NFL EPP says umpires missed mocking penalty kick on Tyreek Hill for playoff peace sign celebration | sports illustrated

NFL executive vice president of football operations Troy Vincent, speaking to reporters in Florida during the league’s annual meeting, admitted that last postseason the umpires missed a taunting penalty kick at the Bills on Tyreek Hill. Hill threw up the peace sign on his way to a critical touchdown in the fourth quarter while with the Chiefs.

“Tyreek was one who was missed,” he said as he addressed missed mocking calls. “That was a missed call, should have called.”

To reduce head contact, the NFL mandates the use of the Guardian Cap helmet for the early portion of training camp | ESPN

The resolution, passed during a morning session at the annual NFL meetings, requires offensive and defensive linemen, tight ends and linebackers to be Guardian Caps at every preseason practice between the start of contact time at training camp and the second preseason game wear.

The caps are soft shell pads that attach to the outside of the helmet and are used with some frequency in college football. NFL teams have experimented with it sporadically in recent years. According to the manufacturer, the current version reduces the force of head contact by up to 20% when all players involved in contact use it. Guardian Cap developed the technology in part through a 2017 NFL grant.

The mandate represents the first significant step in the league’s effort to eliminate all avoidable head contact, a goal that Chief Medical Officer Dr. Allen Sills announced earlier this year.

“Even if this procedure doesn’t change the number of concussions,” Sills said, “we would still think it makes sense if it reduces the force each player receives.”

Ravens sign John Harbaugh for three-year extension; still no progress on deal with Lamar Jackson | NFL.com

The Ravens have signed Harbaugh to a three-year extension through 2025, the team announced Tuesday. Harbaugh’s extension has sparked new questions about Lamar Jackson’s future, which remains unclear.

It seems Jackson is in no rush to strike a new deal.

“Unless he changes his mind and calls[Ravens General Manager]Eric (DeCosta) and says I’m ready,” Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti told reporters Tuesday. via The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec. “But Eric can’t keep calling him and saying, ‘Hey Lamar, you really need to come in here and get this thing done.'”

Roger Goodell: Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson could still face NFL discipline, but commissioner’s exception list unlikely ESPN

At the conclusion of the league meetings here, Goodell said Watson is still under investigation by the NFL for possible violations of their personal conduct policy. League investigator Lisa Friel is overseeing the investigation, which Goodell said has no timeline for completion at this time. Once the investigation is complete, it will be referred to a jointly appointed NFL/NFLPA Disciplinary Officer, who will determine whether Watson should be suspended and/or fined for violations of the personal conduct policy identified by the investigation.

“Obviously these are serious allegations, so we’re looking at them seriously,” Goodell said. “The Personal Conduct Policy is something that is very important to us and it doesn’t take a criminal offense to pursue it.”

Report: Chiefs shout around about ‘top wide receiver’, according to ESPN

We know the Chiefs like Beckham Jr. for who they were heavily involved in the Beckham Sweepstakes when it became available during the 2021 season. Beckham eventually settled on that Los Angeles Ramswho won the super bowl, but a cruciate ligament rupture in the championship game would complicate a possible contract. I still think Beckham’s choice of the Rams over the Chiefs could very well have been the deciding factor in which of the two franchises took home the Lombardi Trophy. The Chiefs (and the buffalo bills) became bound to Landy two weeks agobut he has yet to sign with a team.

Other free agent wide receivers still lingering include Julio Jones, Will Fuller, Antonio Brown, TY Hilton, Cole Beasley and Sammy Watkins. Brown would involve an obvious riskbut he is perhaps the best one-on-one temporary replacement for Tyreek Hill, who is now a member of the Miami Dolphins.

Trade candidates that would fit into “Top Receiver” status include the Seattle Seahawks DK Metcalf, the Saints of New Orleans‘Michael Thomas and maybe those Houston TexansBrandin Cooks – although Russini’s words suggest Metcalf or Thomas would be more of a target than Cooks.
