Chiefs: No, it's not Taylor Swift's fault

Nothing is going well in Kansas City, where the Chiefs have experienced many failures in recent weeks.

On Monday, Patrick Mahomes' club was terrible, losing 20-14 to the Las Vegas Raiders. In particular, the Chiefs' offense conceded two touchdowns on turnovers. It was also the fourth defeat in six games.

On Tuesday, American political activist Charlie Kirk sparked quite a controversy about it.

“The Chiefs are 3-5 since Kelce and Swift reportedly started dating,” he wrote on his social media account. Kelce caught just one touchdown pass in that span. Unrest and this plague wreak havoc on the normally united group of Chiefs. “Yoko Swifto” is reality.”

Kirk was referring to Yoko Ono, John Lennon's wife. In popular culture, many blame them for the breakup of the Beatles.

Hundreds of Swift fans came to her aid on X.

“Windows coach Taylor Swift is really ruining the season, isn't she? What? She’s not a “coach”? Is she the girlfriend of one of the players? It has nothing to do with her you old misogynistic idiot,” user @SteH90 replied.

Kelce takes the blame

As he does every week, Kelce returned to his final game on Wednesday during the podcast he co-hosts with his brother Jason.

The footballer took the blame for his inconsistent performance and spoke about the moment he threw a tantrum on the sidelines during the showdown against the Raiders.

After the game, Chiefs head coach Andy Reed defended his star player to the media.

“I'm just not playing my best football at the moment and I need to concentrate. I have to take more responsibility for him [Reid] and take more responsibility for my teammates. I have to keep a cool head because that’s not how you get back into the rhythm as the leader of this team,” Kelce said.

“He [Reid] protects me and I love him for it. I didn't return to the pitch playing good football. He wanted to see the fire in me and I reacted badly. He just wanted to get the best out of me.”

Kelce and the Chiefs will look to get back to winning ways and secure a playoff spot on Sunday when they host the Cincinnati Bengals at Arrowhead Stadium.
