Police said two teenagers threw glass bottles of alcohol from the 32nd floor of a hotel near Times Square on Friday, injuring a woman underneath and temporarily closing the street.

The loud bang of glass hitting the street caused a brief panic at the Crossroads of the World, where some mistook it for gunfire, sources said.

“I can understand why people thought there were gunshots. When something falls 32 stories and hits the ground, it makes a loud noise,” a law enforcement source told The Post.

The perpetrators, a 12-year-old and an 11-year-old girl, were staying with their guardians at the InterContinental New York Times Square Hotel on West 44th Street between Eighth and Ninth avenues when they pulled off the dangerous stunt, sources said.

According to sources, the 12-year-old was charged with reckless endangerment as a juvenile, while the 11-year-old was not charged because of her age.

“No comment,” one of the guards said when The Post reached him in the hotel room.

According to the sources, the teens threw glass shot glasses out of the 32nd floor window just before 5 p.m.

Hotel employees told the Post that the bottles were crashing from the sky on the Eighth Avenue side of the hotel in front of Shake Shack and the Satin Dolls strip club.

A 24-year-old woman was injured on the street and suffered a cut to her head, police said.

She was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.

Sources said the road was temporarily closed due to the incident while police investigated.

“It sounded like an explosion or gunshots,” a passerby told an officer, according to a source.

“If you throw a bottle from the 34th floor, you could literally kill someone,” said a bouncer outside Satin Dolls, who narrowly avoided being hit by a bottle.

He described the bottle-throwing idea as “crazy” and said police appeared to have arrested three children and two adults.

The incident came just hours after Mayor Eric Adams and the Times Square Alliance assured New Yorkers during the annual confetti test that safety would be a top priority this New Year's Eve.

According to several vendors, hotel guests appeared to be inspired by Hizzoner's ceremonial confetti throwing and began throwing glass.

“The NYPD shut down the entire area for over an hour,” said Clichy Pierre, 40, of Brooklyn, a parking attendant who works in a parking lot across the street from the hotel.

Angry customers were unable to leave the parking lot due to the bottle-throwing incident, he said.

“Every time you close the road, you know it’s crazy,” said a bellman.

Incidents like these are just part of “the area,” he added.

A Shake Shack employee said he “thought someone was trying to jump out the window” and employees were forced to shelter in place for more than three hours.

“I thought it was suicide. Everyone looked up when I went to work,” said Maria Vasketsova, 21, a hostess at Sugar Factory.
