According to a spokesman for the park, which is about 45 miles north of Chicago, three people were injured in a parking lot outside of Six Flags Great America in Gurnee when gunshots rang out from a vehicle.
The vehicle drove away immediately. No further details were given, although a police source told WGN the injuries were not life-threatening.
Two of the injured were taken to a hospital for evaluation and one refused treatment, the spokesman said.
Laurie Walker, who was there with her daughter Grace when the shooting happened, said they were waiting in line for a ride when people started running.

Walker said she heard someone yell, “There’s an active shooter, down, down,” she said. “We didn’t know what was going on, so we get out.”
Walker and her daughter climbed two fences to get to where she could call her husband.
She said they could have left the park a short time later.
Running from the danger, Charlie Donda and his friends told CBS Chicago, “I thought there would be fireworks right away. Then we saw hundreds of people running. It was pretty scary but we’re safe.’
No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
