Children had to be hospitalized for electronic cigarettes

Elementary school children are hospitalized with pulmonary hemorrhage from overuse of illegally sold electronic cigarettes.

In the year to April there were at least 15 cases of children aged nine and under being hospitalized in the UK

These are 40 young people under the age of 19 who were also hospitalized last year for excessive tobacco use, the Chron reports.

Professor Andy Bush, a pediatrician at the Royal Brompton Hospital in west London, said e-cigarettes are particularly dangerous because “we just don’t know what’s in most of these products”.

According to Mr Bush, abuse of electronic cigarettes can result in young people being hospitalized for reasons such as “pulmonary hemorrhage, lung collapse and air leaks, lung filling with fat”.

Earlier this month, pediatricians warned that “adolescent vaping is fast becoming an epidemic among children” and called on the government to ban single-use vapes.
