The National Group of Tax Employees (ANEF) and the National Association of Municipal Officials of Chile (ASEMUCH), members of CLATE, will join the mobilization called by the Unified Workers’ Central Office (CUT) for this Tuesday, October 3, in rejection of the amendments proposed by the right-wing parties in the Constitutional Council, which represent a setback in terms of labor rights and freedom of association.
This demonstration will take place on October 3rd in the former Congress of Santiago against the approval of the Constitutional Council to a series of amendments promoted by the Republican Party and Chile Vamos that restrict the right to strike and bargain and propose that public sector workers can benefit from this right do not use it.

For his part, the head of ANEF, José Perez Debelliwho is also CLATE’s Secretary for Administration and Finance, said: “What is adopted by a reasonable majority is a setback that also violates fundamental rights and the ILO’s own international agreements and conventions that establish the right to union organisation.” The right to collective bargaining, the right to strike, these are basic principles that we have defended to the public and that we as ANEF also represent very strongly for the private sector.
