Foot in the sand, Caipirinha… oops?! A young Chilean woman went viral when she posted a video on TikTok on Saturday (16) in which she talks about a strange custom among Australians: going barefoot in absolutely every public setting. In her opinion, this practice is frowned upon in Latin America, but in Australia it is “chic”, “elegant” and “cool”.
In the post, which is less than a minute long, Sofia also known by user sofiwebb catches several people in a shopping center with this habit. The first of these is a woman pushing a stroller. The influencer then shows Australians sitting in line at the market, next to a shelf, on benches and even in the aisles.
According to Sofia, the closer you are to the beach, the more often you meet people who find this custom “cool”. She even got into the mood and adapted to the fashion. In the video she goes barefoot to the bus stop to visit a friend.
“In fact, I could go on all day [gravando exemplos]. I find people without shoes everywhere,” she analyzed. In the publication, Sofia also asked: “Now I’m at the mall and I’m going to my friend’s house, but imagine what it must be like on the street?”
Currently, the post has more than 20 million views and more than 1 million likes. After going viral, the young woman even made another video in which she responded to a follower who asked if “the country doesn’t smell like feet because of this habit.” Sofia claimed that people don’t get infected because there aren’t many animals in the countryside or insects in the cities and the places generally have very clean soils. And there? Would you?
