China calls for peace and global stability to boost development

According to an official communiqué, this position was advanced by Foreign Minister Qin Gang during a speech at the group’s foreign ministers’ meeting currently being held in New Delhi, India.

The chief diplomat pointed out that the G-20 should commit to expanding cooperation and contributing to common progress to meet the challenges and volatility of today’s world.

In this sense, he suggested sticking to true multilateralism, respecting the principles and goals of the UN Charter, resolving all disagreements through consultations and not inciting abuse of political power or confrontation of blocs.

Qin proposed uniting against unilateralism, protectionism and attempts to decouple industrial supply chains, and aiming for more inclusive, resilient and win-win development.

He called for putting into practice the agreements reached at the Presidential Summit in Bali last November, advancing coordination of macroeconomic policies in support of food and energy security, and solving climate problems.

The foreign minister also expressed China’s willingness to promote peace talks in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, play a constructive role and promote the achievement of a political solution.

He also assured that the modernization process of the Asian giant will bring new opportunities for cooperation with other nations and for a more harmonious development between man and nature.
