PANAMA, March 28 (Xinhua) — China today inaugurated the largest pavilion at the 39th edition of the Expocomer International Trade Fair in the Panamanian capital, occupying 186 of the 500 traditional modules annually, scheduled through to , according to the organizer of the event next Thursday.
During the ceremony at the Panama Convention Center, Chinese Ambassador to the Central American country Wei Qiang said that “this attendance is a very good testament to the new dynamic of economic development and international cooperation taking place in China after three years of COVID.” -19 pandemic.
He noted that this year’s participation is intended to strengthen Chinese cooperation with the rest of the international community, in a sense in which Panama is a very important partner, with the aim of working together as a team and achieving faster economic recovery or reactivation .
The provinces of Guangdong and Zhejiang, among others, are taking part in the Chinese pavilion at Expocomer, the latter having been very active since 2002 and with numerous companies.
Wei stressed that the two provinces are the most developed in China in economic and social terms.
Deputy Director of the Department of Economic and Trade Affairs of the Zhejiang Provincial Government, Dai Bingxue, stressed that Zhejiang-Panama trade ties have become increasingly closer in recent years under China’s proposed Belt and Road, and the areas of the Cooperation was further expanded.
He specified that the trade volume between Zhejiang and Panama in 2022 reflected a 42 percent increase over the previous year, particularly in refined oil, machinery and equipment in general, ships, metal mines and leather products.
This Tuesday, Expocomer, Expo Logística Panamá and Expo Turismo were inaugurated at the Panama Convention Center, the main commercial activities of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Panama (CCIAP), attended by more than 600 companies from America, Latin America and the Caribbean , Europe, Africa and Asia.
