BEIJING, June 29 (RHC) – Director of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, Wang Yi, assured in a telephone conversation with the chief adviser to the Brazilian Presidency, Celso Amorim, that the BRICS, a group consisting from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, is the central mechanism representing the countries of the South, authorities of the Asian country reported today.
According to official sources, Wang, also a member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee, said during the dialogue that with growing uncertainties around the world, the voice of the BRICS countries should be increasingly heard and the bloc needed to play a bigger role in world affairs.
He added that China and Brazil have a responsibility to advance the work of the BRICS to make new contributions to promoting a multipolar world and the democratization of international relations.
For his part, Amorim said that in the current situation, the BRICS countries are playing an increasingly important role in promoting peace, stability and development.
Brazil, Amorim assured, stands ready to strengthen communication and coordination with China, jointly support South Africa’s work as BRICS president until 2023, ensure the successful organization of the leaders’ meeting and demonstrate the unity of the bloc.
According to official reports, both sides also exchanged views on the current situation in Ukraine and expressed their commitment to continuously work together to find a political solution to the crisis.
They also agreed to move forward with implementing the consensus reached during President Lula’s visit to China. (Source:PL)
