It was the Montreal City Police Service’s (SPVM) Major Crimes Unit that arrested the suspect in collaboration with local authorities in Vancouver. He is one of three suspects in a murder that occurred in Montreal’s Chinatown in November 2022.

The arrested suspect is Dwayne Joseph. The 46-year-old man was the subject of a nationwide arrest warrant. He is expected to appear in the Montreal courthouse today on a second-degree murder charge.

“This is the third arrest as part of this investigation. Marckinson Cherise, 42, was also charged with second-degree murder in March 2023. For his part, Mame Abdul Aziz Ndiaye, 31, was charged with robbery in February 2023,” the SPVM added.

On November 6, 2022, at approximately 10 p.m., an argument occurred between several people at the intersection of Clark and La Gauchetière West streets in Chinatown. A man in his 30s was stabbed. This was the 34th murder of 2022 on the island of Montreal.
