Chinese Ambassador to Cuba Ma Hui offered a news conference Friday in which he described the recent visit by US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to the Taiwan region as an action “of a very negative and leading nature.” to extremely serious consequences.
The diplomat reiterated that the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National People’s Congress, the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, the Bureau of Taiwan Affairs of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, the Ministry of National Defense and other bodies of the Chinese government have taken their position in this made the matter public and made clear the firm opposition and categorical condemnation of Pelosi’s actions.
“China has taken necessary and appropriate countermeasures, including imposing sanctions on Pelosi and her immediate family members,” he said.

“This is an extremely irresponsible, provocative and dangerous act and a complete political farce!” he said.
Ma Hui remembered it “The one-China principle is the universal consensus of the international community and constitutes the premise and basis for establishing and developing diplomatic relations between China and the United States.”.
“There is only one China in the world, Taiwan is an inalienable part of Chinese territory, and the government of the People’s Republic of China is the only legitimate government representing all of China,” he stressed, arguing that “this was clearly recognized by the Resolution 2758 of 1971 of the United Nations General Assembly”.

“Successive US administrations have repeatedly reiterated that they adhere to the one-China policy and do not support ‘Taiwan independence,'” he said.

He noted that the US must honor President Joe Biden’s promise not to seek a “new cold war” with China and not to try to change China’s system.
“The right way for all countries to deal with each other is mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, non-confrontation and win-win cooperation, and the same applies to two great countries like China and the United States.”
The Ambassador thanked the support of the international community and United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who reiterated that the United Nations will continue to respect the principle of one China and Resolution 2758 adopted by the UN General Assembly.
