Tsingtao Brewery, one of the largest in China, announced it was launching an investigation after a video showing an employee urinating on drink ingredients went viral earlier this week.
The video, released on Thursday (19), allegedly shows an employee at a Tsingtao Brewery Co. warehouse climbing a container and urinating in beer. The images circulated on Chinese social media and were viewed millions of times on the Weibo platform.
Tsingtao announced on Friday (20) that it had contacted the police about the incident and that an investigation was underway. “Our company attaches great importance to the video released by Tsingtao No. 1 on October 19th. 3 Brewery was released,” it said in a statement.
“We reported the incident to the police as soon as possible and public security authorities are being involved in the investigation,” he added. “The batch of malt in question was completely sealed. The company continues to strengthen its administrative procedures to ensure the quality of its products,” Tsingtao stressed.
Tsingtao, China’s second largest brewery, is one of the country’s bestknown beverage brands with a strong presence in bars and restaurants.
