Chinese Communist Party turns 101 as membership grows

Beijing, July 1 (Prensa Latina) – The Chinese Communist Party (PCCh) celebrates its 101th anniversary today with more than 96.7 million members from all walks of life in the Asian country.

For this new anniversary, this political force sees the addition of 4.3 million new militants while increasing its grassroots organizations to 4.9 million.

A report released this week as of the deadline highlighted that growth in PCCh membership in 2021 was 3.7 percent higher than the previous year and 15.9 percent higher than the figure published on March 18. Congress of the group in 2012.

He also referred to the integration of youth, workers, farmers, professionals, women and representatives of ethnic groups.

Women now make up 28.4 percent of members, and in 1949 it was only 11.9.

The proportion of militants from ethnic groups increased from 2.5 to 7.5 over the period.

Another document revealed that from 2012 to last April, the CCP’s disciplinary bodies investigated and punished around five million people for corruption-related crimes.

The communist organization is preparing to hold its 20th national congress next fall.

During the last conclave, held in October 2017, it amended its statutes to incorporate new governance concepts, thoughts and strategies aimed at making it a stronger organization and working towards the country’s long-awaited socio-economic and political revitalization .

The idea of ​​socialism with Chinese characteristics was included in the party’s founding document and considered as a way to realize future projections.

This thought emphasizes updating the laws, transforming the People’s Liberation Army into world-class military forces, and promoting a new form of international relations that will help ensure a better future for mankind.

Among other things, concrete measures against upcoming challenges such as poverty, pollution, financial risks, sustainable development and corruption are being considered, as they could hinder national recovery plans.

The PCCh is also deepening the reform and opening-up policies that have made the Asian giant the largest recipient of foreign direct investment and the world’s second-biggest economy.

Now is the time to prioritize quality and innovation to ensure truly sustainable growth.

Another goal is to get rid of the name “Factory of the World” and to commit to a growth model in which efficiency and environmental aspects are more important, but at the same time promote exports and domestic consumption.
