“This is the thirty-fourth consecutive year that Africa has been the destination of the first annual overseas visit of Chinese foreign ministers,” the spokesperson confirmed. According to Mao, the foreign minister's trip aims to promote the implementation of the results of the China-Africa Leadership Dialogue, discuss preparations for the next Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (Focac), and generally consolidate friendship and cooperation between the two .

“This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Brazil and the fifth anniversary of the establishment of a strategic cooperation partnership between China and Jamaica,” he added.
