BEIJING, Jan. 24 (Xinhua) — Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Beijing on Wednesday.

Li pointed out that China-Uzbekistan relations have developed remarkably in recent years under the strategic leadership of the heads of the two countries, and cooperation in various fields has been comprehensively strengthened.

He stressed the need to pursue the important common understanding between the two leaders, consolidate solidarity and mutual trust, expand mutually beneficial cooperation, accelerate the building of a Chinese-Uzbek community with a shared future and mutual understanding to hold on to respect and mutual support.

Li said the two countries should resolutely support each other on issues affecting each other's core interests, including national sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.

Aiming to achieve high-quality cooperation on the Belt and Road Project, China will work with Uzbekistan to expand and improve economic, trade and investment cooperation, hard connectivity in infrastructure and soft connectivity in technology, norms and standards, and harness the potential of green cooperation into new energy, and strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the fields of culture, education and tourism, Li added.

For his part, Mirziyoyev noted that Uzbekistan values ​​its relations with China and appreciates China's support for Uzbekistan's efforts to safeguard its sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.

Uzbekistan firmly adheres to the one-China principle and works firmly with China to combat the “three forces” of terrorism, separatism and extremism, Mirziyoyev added.

Uzbekistan is ready to deepen bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, investment, agriculture, finance, productive capacity, infrastructure construction, connectivity and people-to-people exchanges, Mirziyoyev said, adding that his country welcomes more Chinese companies to invest and do business to do in Uzbekistan, where a strong business environment is created.
