Several Chinese provinces are now working to build field hospitals and all the necessary logistics in case there is a large-scale Covid-19 backlash like the one Shanghai is currently experiencing.

Aside from infrastructure preparation, many regions are conducting PCR testing across entire cities immediately after detecting patients with the disease, and cities like Wuhan need up-to-date results of these tests to use the subway and public buses.

In addition, the Ministry of Education and the National Health Commission on Tuesday unveiled a plan directing schools to step up measures to prevent and minimize the possibility of outbreaks of infection among students, teachers and non-teaching workers.

According to experts, the decision to prepare in time for the worst-case scenarios reflects the full validity of the zero-tolerance strategy for Covid-19 in the country.

The government reiterated its adherence to this policy and believes it is the best way to manage large outbreaks like the one in Shanghai, where asymptomatic cases and cases infected with the Omicron variant of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus are prevalent .

The complexity of the epidemiological situation forced the imposition of lockdowns and the implementation of three consecutive rounds of PCR and antigen tests on the more than 25 million inhabitants of this metropolis, the financial center of China.

This Tuesday, Shanghai was centered on 23,342 of the 24,659 cases of Covid-19 reported nationwide.

In general, since the emergence of the pathology and the coronavirus that causes it in December 2019, China has recorded at least 14,319 deaths and 503,565 cases in its mainland, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.

That eruption erupted last March and is the worst recorded in the Asian giant in two years.

Epidemiologists warned the population of the danger of contracting Omicron, refuting claims comparing it to a strong flu.

Even Hong Kong urged parents to be aware of children’s development after recovering from Covid-19, as many have consequences as the days go by.
