Chip and Joanna Gaines announce they are developing a rolling dance competition series for Max, coming to Streamer in early 2024
Chip and Joanna Gaines are expanding their empire.
The couple – whose son Drake graduated from high school in May – have announced they are developing a roller dancing competition series for Max, which is expected to hit the streamer in early 2024.
The new show is described as “the first-ever national roller skating competition series” and “a nostalgic, family-friendly competition featuring America’s best roller skating crews.”
Though it’s a departure from the couple’s usual home improvement and lifestyle schedule, the family-friendly nature of the competition is a trademark for the Gaines.
It’s the first show the prolific creators are developing specifically for Max.

“Putting on a pair of roller skates is like reconnecting with childhood.” “There’s just something there that appeals to everyone,” Chip and Joanna Gaines said in a statement to Variety.
“Kids, adults and everyone in between will have fun watching these talented crews come together and get their hearts out and we’re thrilled to bring this nostalgic competition to life.”
The pair’s Magnolia Networks has confirmed that contestants will be selected from qualifying rounds in Atlanta, Houston, Las Vegas, Nashville, New York and St. Louis.
The roller dance teams compete for a cash prize.
The series has not been given a name as of this writing.
And the whole idea isn’t as far-fetched as it seems. Joanna loves roller skating and has frequently shared snaps of her skating on Instagram in the past.
She also opened up about why she loves roller skating in the summer 2022 issue of the Magnolia Journal.
“Lately my skates go everywhere I go,” she wrote. “On days when things feel heavy or tough, I lace them up and stroll around.”
