Chiquis’ new song “El Honor” looks like a farewell letter to her ex Lorenzo Méndez. There is no other way to interpret the heartbreak song, especially since she herself said that the productions that will come on her next album reflect what she has experienced since the breakup. It is one of the most anticipated albums in Latin music.
“El Honor,” written by Luciano Luna and featuring band arrangements, “emphasizes strength and empowerment through Chiquis’ extraordinary voice, as well as the worth of women and what they deserve in a relationship,” reads a statement from the artist and businesswoman.
“I love this song, I want those who identify with it to sing it at the top of their lungs. It fills me with emotion to release new music, which is a whole process that I really enjoy and do with great affection for all my fans,” said Chiquis. Though she has no songwriting credits, Chiquis herself has said she chooses songs that represent her. The lyrics of “El Honor” speak for themselves.
“It was an honor for me
for me to go through your story
You don’t accept it, but I don’t care
And it’s not to brag about
that you lost me
that you had me
and for you i was too muchI gave you the opportunity
what will you change
My words didn’t go through
your armor
I left very punctually
and it was a successIt’s very true
you are no match for me
the best thing that ever happened to you
met me
Be thankful that I gave you
the honor of walking with meI don’t blame you if you miss me
and it hurts not to look at me
Then you will feel a burn
when someone looks at meI realized that my life
your lies are not lacking
and don’t even dream of returning
if i left it’s because i deserve it
a love according to my measure”.Uff, as the boys would say “Boom. Enormous burn (burned). Right from the start, we know that the “zeal” she talks about in the song is already gone, first with Mr. Tempo and then with Chiquis’ current boyfriend, the photographer and businessman Emilio Sánchez, her current boyfriend.
The song is very powerful and accompanied by the band’s imposing horns, it already sounds like an anthem to be sung by all those people who have left a relationship for love of themselves. Not for lack of love for the other person, but because it was a couple who hurt her.
“El Honor” was produced by Latin GRAMMY winners Luciano Luna, Ulises Lozano “El Licenciado” and Richard Bull. The instruments for the song were recorded in Sinaloa and Chiquis recorded her voice in a cozy studio in the foothills of Laurel Canyon in Los Angeles.
Chiquis said the video will be shot by the artist this Friday, March 25, and that she will be sharing behind-the-scenes pictures on her social media. The video clip is produced and directed by Oscar Eden.
Hopefully that’s the theme Chiquis has chosen for her return to the television music stage. Although she will start her new concert tour on April 10th, we will see her at the Latin American Music Awards on April 21st, which will be broadcast live from Las Vegas on the Telemundo network. The artist is also nominated for her work on social media.
