Chocolats Favoris will renovate its branch in Lévis

The company Chocolats Favouris will demolish the current store that houses its first branch in the old town of Lévis in order to build a new one in the same location.

In a press release, Chocolats Favouris stressed that it had to act as a safety measure while the building had reached the end of its useful life.

In September 2022, the company even had to preventively close its branch to ensure the safety of employees and customers. The activities are currently being relocated to the Miscéo district in Lévis.

In particular, the architects’ analyzes have shown that the historic masonry promotes water penetration, while significant damage to the walls could lead to collapse.

The building does not meet current seismic standards […] The roof construction is not standard […] “The internal supporting axes of the building do not follow a regular pattern,” it is emphasized. “It will be very difficult to find a safe method of work and a contractor willing to carry it out [une éventuelle rénovation] “.

The “mother house” at 32 Avenue Bégin represents the “roots” of the chocolatier, although it opened in 1979.

The company will ensure that the conversion respects the character and spirit of the current building as faithfully as possible.

The historic building in Vieux-Lévis was acquired by Chocolats Favouris in 2012.
