Chris Pratt says he felt "Broken" before meeting his wife Katherine Schwarzenegger

(CNN) — Chris Pratt has spoken candidly about how he met his now-wife, writer Katherine Schwarzenegger, and why their meeting came at just the right time.

On Tuesday on The Drew Barrymore Show, the 43-year-old Super Mario Bros. voice actor revealed that “there was a time in my life where I was really struggling and I felt really broken.”

“For me, my own journey has been about finding a higher power and leaning on that and saying, ‘Please save me,’ and then feeling saved,” Pratt said.

“And soon after, I met the woman of my dreams.”

Pratt met Schwarzenegger, daughter of Hollywood icon Arnold, in 2018. They married the following year.

“God has a fast-forward button,” Pratt said. “If it’s the right thing, boom! it hits you You fall in love, you get married.”
The couple have two daughters, Lyla Maria, 2, and Eloise Christina, 10 months.

Pratt, who is best known for his roles in the Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World franchises, also revealed where he met Schwarzenegger, now 33. While many people go to church and find comfort, absolution, or inner peace, Pratt went to church and found his future wife.

“I was in the front row of the church, and it’s not a place you want to be, ‘Oh, who is she? Do you understand me?’” Pratt said to Barrymore.

“But I threw a few furtive glances and was like, ‘Who is she? What am I actually doing? Come on, I’m broken, help me. But who is she?’ he recalls.

“So we kind of hit it off. And we didn’t start dating right away, but we met there and later we went out together.”

Pratt, who was previously married to Scary Movie star Anna Faris, said everything about meeting Schwarzenegger felt right.

“It made sense. You know, when you’re doing a jigsaw puzzle and there’s a piece and you feel it, you say, ‘I’m sure that’s the piece,’ and then you try it and it looks like that’s it should piece (but then) you know.” “Oh, that’s it,” he said.

“It just clicked. You’re like, ‘Oh, it clicked, because the thing had to click in there.’ I felt that.”

The Super Mario Bros. Movie opens this Wednesday in the US.
