The quarrel between Chris Rock and Will Smith, who was born after the incident that saw the star smack the comedian live on a global scale after an unfortunate joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith, is still showing no signs of extinction a year later.
With the arrival of his long-awaited special Selective Outrage, produced by Netflix, the former Oscar presenter took the opportunity to remove more than a pebble from his shoe against the pair. Chri Rock has therefore increased the dose, citing Smith’s violent reaction to her on last night’s Oscars to a high-stress situation. A stress that would be specifically due to the couple’s personal events, which also saw an episode of infidelity.
However, in the last few hours, a new report would have added an important novelty to the dispute, viz an alleged “obsession” maintained by the comedian to Jada Pinkett Smith herself. A source very close to Will Smith’s wife defended her by attacking the comedian head-on:
Jada never had any part in this whole thing other than being insulted. Chris is obsessed with her and has been for almost 30 years. See where he chose to film his Netflix special. His hometown of Baltimore…he’s really obsessed.
The anonymous source added:

Pinkett Smith was one of the biggest supporters of the Oscars boycott at the time, which exploded after awareness of the shortage racial diversity among the nominees for the awards. According to Chris Rock himself during his show, Jada Pinkett Smith would have ordered him to “quit” the Oscars in 2016 because Will Smith wasn’t nominated for sports drama Shadow Zone. A strong statement for sure, but what a source categorically denies in all aspects:
Jada Pinkett-Smith she never asked Chris never to present the Oscars. Instead, in a post published on Facebook at the time, he explained that he would have been a great host of the Oscars and that he was undoubtedly the perfect man for the job. In any case, Jada is now focused on publishing her book and has nothing more to add to this story.
So, according to the anonymous source close to the couple, the disagreements with Chris Rock didn’t start at the 2022 Oscars, it did a long time agoand the now famous episode of the slap in the face would only be the last episode of this long skirmish.
