Chris Rock jokes Ive got my hearing back after Will

Chris Rock jokes about Oscar slap after Will Smith banned for 10 years

Chris Rock reportedly addressed the Will Smith incident at the 2022 Academy Awards during a stand-up set on Friday night (April 8).

Earlier that day, the academy announced that it would ban Smith from attending all academy events for ten years.

During the televised ceremony, Smith slapped and verbally abused Rock on stage after the comedian made a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.

“Jada, I love you. GI Jane 2 can’t wait to see you,” Rock joked, referring to Pinkett Smith’s shaved head. Pinkett Smith explained last year that she shaved her head after battling alopecia.

Smith, who later won the Best Actor award in the ceremony, took to the stage and slapped Rock before yelling at him twice, “Keep my wife’s name out of your friggin’ mouth.”

The California-based newspaper Desert Sun quoted the comedian as saying at the Fantasy Springs show: “I’m fine, I’ve got a whole show and I don’t talk about it [the Will Smith incident] until I get paid.

“Life is good. I got my hearing back,” he then joked.

According to the outlet, attendees were forbidden from bringing cellphones into the building during Rock’s set and were given lockable pouches for all cellphones.

The actor had mentioned the shocking Oscar incident during a stand-up set last week, telling an audience he was “still processing” what happened.
