The comedian might not be ready for a chat with Will Smith, but he’s certainly gotten into digs here and there.

A few months after the Oscar slap incident, the King Richard star finally broke his silence. In the video clip, Smith offered an explanation:
“I was foggy at that point. It’s all blurry. I have reached out to Chris and the message that has come back is that he is not ready to speak and if he is he will get in touch. So, I’m going to tell you, Chris, I apologize to you. My behavior was unacceptable and I’m here whenever you’re ready to talk. I want to apologize to Chris’ mother. I saw an interview Chris’ mom did and that was one of the things I didn’t notice at that moment. I didn’t think about how many people were hurt at that moment.”
Rock performed a show at the Fox Theater in Atlanta on Friday. Though the 57-year-old didn’t specifically mention the apology, he spoke very briefly about the incident, leaving nothing to the imagination, particularly with regard to the comparison to vengeful rap executive Suge Knight. Rock quipped:

“Everyone tries to be a victim. If everyone claims to be a victim, then no one will hear the real victims. Even I was beaten by Suge Smith… I went to work the next day, I had kids.

When it comes to Chris Rock, the show and life must go on
NetflixAs Rock continues with his Chris Rock Ego Death World Tour, he’s been slowly cracking jokes for the past few months, making slight references to the infamous hit. Commenting on the slap on a recent show at the PNC Banks Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ, he said, “Anyone who says words hurt has never been slapped in the face.” And while Rock doesn’t match Will Smith’s numbers, Rock gains more social media followers. For the most part, Rock’s comedy set seems to focus on the temperature of America.
The comedian is also making headlines in the romance department after being spotted multiple times with 43-year-old actress Lake Bell. After spending their vacation in Croatia, the couple were recently spotted strolling arm in arm through New York’s SoHo neighborhood. A source tells People that Lake joins Chris on tour whenever she can.
