“It’s so big what we want to achieve,” said Christian Dubé in an interview. It must be a success like the state-owned companies that Quebecers are proud of.”

The names of the 11 members who will form an interim committee were announced on Thursday and this new body will take office tomorrow, a first step towards those future results promised by Minister Dubé.

Among the members of this council is Doctor Gilbert Boucher, who is also president of the Association of Specialists in Emergency Medicine of Quebec (ASMUQ).

The main task of this new committee will be to determine the order for the establishment of the health authority. He is then expected to support the next President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), whose identity we do not yet know.

The Minister of Health highlighted today the importance of the changes this body will make on the ground as Quebecers struggle to get a doctor's appointment and face several hours of waiting when they get to the hospital.

Who would be the CEO of the health authority?

The call for the health authority's CEO position will officially open next week, but several names have already been mentioned.

It is possible that the next “cutting edge” in healthcare, as Mr Dubé calls it, could come from the public network, but also from the private sector.

There were rumors circulating about Nathalie Palladitcheff and Michel Delamarre.

Ms. Palladitcheff has been President and CEO of Ivanhoé Cambridge since 2019. She sits on the management committee of the Caisse de dépôt etplacement du Québec (CDP Q) and has had a long career in real estate.

For his part, Michel Delamarre comes from the health network. From 2015 to 2022 he was CEO of the CIUSSS de la Capitale-Nationale. He has been working in the health sector since 1981 and is currently Health Care Access Coordinator.

However, these rumors are unfounded as the advertisement for the position will be officially launched in mid-April next week.
