Christina Aguilera celebrated the 21st anniversary of the release of her fourth album Stripped by posting a series of steamy snaps to her Instagram account on Sunday.

The 42-year-old singer showed off plenty of skin in the photos, which were all taken in her early twenties.

The artist, who recently promoted her Las Vegas stay on Instagram, also shared a clip consisting of several sequences from the music videos for the album’s tracks.

Stripped’s first single, Dirrty, was released in September 2002 and quickly caused controversy due to its sexually explicit lyrical content.

The music video for the track premiered the same month and was met with similar controversy for its depiction of various fetishes.

Despite the negative reaction to her first single and its accompanying promotional clip, Aguilera’s fourth album enjoyed great success upon its debut, reaching number two on the US Billboard 200 chart.

Following Stripped’s debut, four more singles were released, including Beautiful, Fighter and Can’t Hold Us Down.

The singer was also nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals for her work on Dirrty, but it ultimately went to Santana and Michelle Branch.

In support of her album, the hitmaker undertook two concert tours, both of which took place in 2003.

Aguilera’s fourth studio album has since been certified five-times platinum in the United States.

Several high-profile artists, including Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus, have since cited the record as a major influence on their own work.

The hitmaker spoke about working on “Stripped” in an interview with Rolling Stone, explaining that she wanted the album’s content to be a stark contrast to her previous work.

“The music I made on my first album was still under the control of a lot of older men and women,” she remembers.

Aguilera further spoke about the controversy that surrounded her record’s lead single.

“It made me sad how conservative and prejudiced a lot of people were, and I never came on stage to force anything on anyone,” she said.

The performer then explained that she wanted to show a different side of her art with Dirrty.

“That was the essence of shaking things up.” “I wanted to come back to the stage and really shake it up for myself and do something different and a little rebellious,” she explained.
