Speaking to Billboard Editor-in-Chief Lyndsey Havens on the Faena Forum, Christina opened up about her past while returning to her Latin roots with her latest album, Aguilera.

Originally released in May of this year, the trilogy album released its third and final “chapter” La Luz on September 29th.

“I’ve witnessed a lot of different forms of abuse and stuff like that,” the star said of her difficult childhood. “We have the right to feel how we feel, and then I think it’s important to move away from that and choose to move forward into the light. That’s what La Luz is all about.”

La Luz joins forces with the album’s previous two parts, La Fuerza and La Tormenta, to honor Aguilera’s heritage, her youth, her difficult relationship with her Ecuadorian father, and the connection she shares with her children.

“It’s important to come full circle and make peace with yourself,” she said, “so you can be as healthy and as strong as possible for yourself and also for my children.” The Dirrty singer has described La Luz as one of the most personal projects she’s ever worked on and helped reignite her passion for music.

“I’m actually getting inspired by the music once again making this album,” the burlesque star told People in July last year. “This album is a full circle moment for me. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for so many years.’

This latest music collection is Aguilera’s first full-length Spanish album since the release of Mi Reflejo in 2000. Mi Reflejo was the best-selling Latin pop album that year, selling 2.2 million copies worldwide and spending 19 weeks at the top the Billboard Latin charts.

The megastar broke down in tears on stage while discussing a song called No Es Que Te Extrañe, and described its music video as “the most personal video I’ve ever made and will ever make again.”

As well as sharing her emotions surrounding her new music, the mogul was on hand to promote her latest business venture, Fun Wine, which was sponsoring the premiere party. As the brand’s chief culture officer, Christina is able to flaunt bottles of the low-calorie, fun-flavored wine in her Instagram post.

“Only the fun live forever” is the company’s motto, which was also taken up by its star CCO. “A fun night out in Miami,” she captioned the post, tagging the brand, which makes a coconut and pineapple flavored chardonnay. Christina will soon be having more fun than Aguilera, the album recently garnered seven Latin Grammy Award nominations.
