During an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show in December 2022, Christina revealed that she had reached out to some Below Deck stars. She wrote: “Hello friends. A few months ago I was diagnosed with MS. It was a strange journey. But I have had so much support from people who I know also suffer from this disease.
“It was a hard road. But as we all know, the path continues. Unless some idiot blocks it.'
She continued: “One of my friends who has MS said, “We wake up and take the actions indicated.”
Since then, Christina has been refreshingly honest about how MS has affected her daily life, and in May 2023, she told Vanity Fair that she could no longer walk down the stairs alone and was “afraid” to shower.
“It's never a good day with MS. You just have shitty days. People say, “Why don't you shower more often?” “Well, because it's scary to take a shower,” Christina said.
“You can fall, you can slip, your legs can give out.” Especially because I have a glass shower. It scares me to come in there. There are just certain things that people take for granted in their lives that I took for granted.
“Walking down the stairs, carrying things – that's not possible anymore.” It fucking sucks. I can still drive my car short distances. I can bring food to my child. Above, never below.'
Christina also revealed that she kept contact with other people to a minimum as she was immunocompromised and likes to live her life as “quietly and relaxed as possible” to keep her nervous system in check.

Fans were pleasantly surprised when Christina appeared at the 2024 Emmy Awards in Los Angeles last month, receiving a standing ovation when she came on stage to present the award for Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.
Christina, leaning on a walking stick as she was escorted on stage by presenter Anthony Anderson, said: “Thank you so much.” Oh my God, you're completely shaming my disability by standing up. That's good.'
She then joked that her body was “not Ozempic.”
The actress previously shared that she gained 40 pounds following her diagnosis due to “inactivity and medication.”
“I didn’t look like myself and I didn’t feel like myself,” she said.
Christina had to film her Netflix dark comedy Dead To Me even though her body was changing. She was so upset with her appearance and revealed that she refused to watch the show.
“At some point I was able to distance myself from my own ego and realize what a beautiful piece of television it was,” she said.
