Forward Christine Sinclair will not be on the Canadian women’s soccer team at next summer’s Paris Olympics.
On Thursday, the 40-year-old announced that she would be retiring from her international career at the end of the year. She posted a video on her Instagram account. In this image in particular we can see a pair of shoes hanging around the crossbar of a goal.
The top scorer in the history of women’s football is expected to wear the red and white jersey in duels against Brazil on October 28th in Montreal and October 31st in Halifax. It could also be part of the training for two meetings taking place between November 27th and December 6th. It appears that these clashes will take place in Vancouver, not far from the birthplace of the living football legend.
In his career with the Maple Leaf team, Sinclair scored 190 goals in 327 games. Notably, she was part of the gold medal-winning team at the Tokyo Olympics (2021) and the bronze medal-winning team at the London (2012) and Rio (2016) Olympics.
Sinclair has been named Canadian Player of the Year 14 times and nominated for FIFA Player of the Year six times.
