Week 16 of the NFL season continues Sunday – and we’ll bring you all the action of the three-game Christmas dinner table! Currently, Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are battling the Trace McSorley-led Arizona Cardinals to wrap things up.
Earlier, Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers upset Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins on the street at Hard Rock Stadium in Florida. Trailing 20-13 at halftime, the Packers had 16 unanswered points in the second half when Tagovailoa intercepted the Dolphins’ final three drives.
Elsewhere, Baker Mayfield and the Los Angeles Rams dominated the Denver Broncos at home in LA by 30+ points.
Here are the top games from the Sunday table!
Tampa Bay Buccanner at Arizona Cardinals
trickery!
The Cardinals came down to fourth and 2 with a sneaky play and grabbed a crucial first down early in the first quarter.
Stay tuned for updates!
Los Angeles Rams 51, Denver Broncos 14
Durant still plays at Christmas
Sure, Nets star Kevin Durant isn’t playing in a Christmas Day game for the first time since 2009 (if he’s healthy), but another Durant is making games.
Rams rookie corner Cobie Durant made a diver interception to give his team good field position.
To the house!
Tyler Higbee made the reception just outside the goal line and worked his way into the end zone to give Los Angeles a 10-0 lead in the first quarter.
Hey, former teammate!
Bobby Wagner got in on the fun, intercepting his former Seattle Seahawks teammate Russell Wilson to give the Rams a great field position on back-to-back drives.
Cam Akers complements the leadership
The Rams running backs found their way into the end zone with a three-yard run to give LA a 17-0 lead in the first quarter.
Courtland Sutton keeps it cool
The Broncos receiver made a jump hold down the sideline that was originally ruled incomplete, but Denver challenged the game and quick review showed Sutton made the hold.
The catch helped the Broncos set up a field goal and take it to 17-3.
Santa Claus among the TDs
Higbee scored his second touchdown of the second quarter to give the Rams a 24-3 lead early in the second quarter.
The Rams followed that with one 2-yard touchdown rush von Akers with a 31-6 lead at half-time.
For good measure
Denver added a touchdown midway through the fourth quarter thanks to a grab by Greg Dulcich on the touchline.
Chaos!
Durant sealed the deal for the Rams with an 85-yard interception turn touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Green Bay Packers 26, Miami Dolphins 20
Runs almost all the way
After the Dolphins took a 3-0 lead on the opening drive, Keisean Nixon put the Packers in great field position, returning the ensuing kick 94 yards to place Green Bay inside Miami’s 10-yard line. The Packers couldn’t fully capitalize on the advantage and opted for a field goal.
Waddle your way for six!
Jaylen Waddle took Tagovailoa’s pass at range and turned a 10-yard reception into an 84-yard touchdown to give Miami a 10-3 lead.
Got a Marcedes for Christmas
Green Bay finally reached the end zone when Rodgers found Marcedes Lewis wide open to tie the game 10-10.
star power
Tagovailoa’s favorite present this season was Tyreek Hill and he reconnected with him at Christmas. The star receiver pulled in a 52-yard grab to put the Dolphins at the Packers 1-yard line.
Then Jeff Wilson ran for a touchdown in the following game to give Miami a 17-10 lead.
Not on Miami’s clock
The Packers tried to keep their drive alive by running a fake punt deep in their own territory in fourth place. The dolphins sniffed out the fake faster than Santa sniffs out cookies on Christmas Eve.
Big fourth down conversion
Rodgers used the play action to his advantage, finding Christian Watson open to a first down to set the Packers up for a field goal to put it 20-13 before halftime.
♫ Slide left ♫
Rodgers moved to his left and found Lewis again, but this time for a 30+ yard finish to set the Packers up at the Dolphins 7 yard line.
Great AJ
AJ Dillon worked his way into the end zone just two plays after Rodger’s deep pass to level the game early in the third quarter.
Dolphins Defense has a choice… but was there a PI?
Wanting it all in third and 15th, Rodgers launched a pass into the end zone to Allen Lazard. Kader Kohou made the play to get the interception for the Dolphins, but it appeared he got away with one touch.
“Ball Don’t Lie”, at least for Packers fans
In the game right after Rodgers’ interception, the Packers got the ball back when Tagovailoa threw the ball straight at Jaire Alexander to give Green Bay great field position.
A present for De’Vondre Campbell
Tagovailoa threw another interception straight at the Packers linebacker as the Dolphins drove to either tie or take the lead.
Tua sales
The Dolphins quarterback threw his third interception in his last three dries when his final pass of the game went straight to Rasul Douglas, sealing the Packers’ 26-20 win.
