Just over 5,000 customers are still without power a week after the storm began, which hit Quebec hard.

As of Friday morning, 5,092 homes were still plunged into darkness, according to Hydro-Québec’s latest update.
The Outaouais region is now the hardest hit region with 1,703 homes without power, closely followed by Capitale-Nationale with 1,061 outages. The Laurentians still count 922 customers in the dark.
The Côte-Nord still has 417 families without electricity, Estrie 375, Mauricie 351 and Bas-Saint-Laurent 211.
On Thursday, about 1,300 Hydro-Québec workers were mobilized to restore power across the province. As early as Thursday evening, around 97 percent of all affected households were supplied with electricity again, the state-owned company announced on its website.
“However, the challenge remains great: Power lines have landed on the ground due to strong gusts or under the weight of broken branches. In addition, access to the network is very difficult. The sometimes very lengthy repairs only restore service for a few customers at the same time.
Hydro-Québec reminds you that it is important to stay away from dropped power cords and instead call 911 to secure the site.
“Furthermore, absolutely no fuel-powered lighting or heating appliances, generators or portable stoves designed for outdoor use should be used in dwellings. [barbecue]. The risk of suffocation and poisoning is significant,” the company emphasizes.
