Chrome: The URL bar becomes more practical thanks to new shortcuts

Chrome’s URL bar has been enriched with new shortcuts: it now allows you to quickly find an item in your history, favorites or currently open tabs.

The trick is very simple: just type @favorites, @history, or @tabs into the URL bar and click the new “Search on” button that appears (you can also press Space or Tab). You only have to enter a term so that the browser shows you the corresponding page.

Google explains that the shortcuts can be useful when planning a trip. @tabs allows you to navigate between the dozens of open reservation tabs, while @historic offers to keep track of a hiking route seen some time ago. Finally, @favorites simplifies searching in its previously saved tabs.

Remember that Chrome has another type of shortcuts to quickly search on a site: for example, we can type “@wk Apple” to find the manufacturer’s page in the Wikipedia encyclopedia. However, this must be configured manually in the settings (Search Engines -> Manage Search Engines and Site Search section).
