CIA paid to hide origin of Covid, says House subcommittee

The US authorities would have offered the researchers money to change their version and claim that the disease came from animals

The US House of Representatives Special Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic released a report on Monday (September 12, 2023) saying that the CIA (United States Central Intelligence Agency) offered money so that investigators would not disclose that the Covid 19 virus originated from a laboratory in Wuhan, China. In the report, the anonymous witness said to be a senior CIA official states that the agency assigned seven members to investigate the origins of the virus. Of these, six analysts concluded that the disease probably originated in a laboratory in Wuhan.

The House subcommittee is responsible for investigating the emergence of the disease.

However, according to the official, after the result, the secret service offered the six investigators money to change their versions and state that the virus came from animals.

“The whistleblower, posing as a highly credible senior CIA officer, claims that of the seven people assigned to the CIA team to analyze the origins of Covid, six officers concluded that the virus likely came from one Laboratory in Wuhan, China. However, the CIA allegedly offered financial incentives to six of the experts involved in the investigation to change their conclusion in favor of a zoonotic origin,” the subcommittee report said.

Former CIA director of operations Andrew Makridis was asked by the group on September 26 to clarify the matter. All documents and payment information intended for the team appointed by the authority to investigate the origin of the virus have also been requested and must be submitted by the same date.

“Any undue influence by the CIA will be investigated to ensure accountability of the intelligence community,” the subcommittee said in a statement.
