Clashes on the border between Lebanon and Israel intensify at Christmas

Beirut, December 25 (EFE). – Clashes between the Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah and Israel intensified over Christmas as the Iran-backed militia carried out seven attacks on the border with the Jewish state, bombing several villages in southern Lebanon today.

In a series of statements, Hezbollah said it attacked an Israeli detachment near a barracks on the border between the two countries, as well as the Beit Hillal military base east of Kiryat Shmona, with “appropriate weapons” such as rockets and rockets. And that they allegedly “caused confirmed losses.”

In addition, Hezbollah claimed an attack on “the colony of Avivim (the occupied Lebanese city of Salha) and the colony of Metulla” in response to Israeli attacks on villages and civilian homes in Lebanon.

According to the official Lebanese news agency NNA, Israel continued to attack several areas in southern Lebanon on Monday with “phosphorus and artillery bombardments”, particularly affecting the outskirts of the city of Kafr Kila and the Marjayun Plain.

The Israeli-Lebanese border is experiencing its highest peak in tensions since the 2006 war between Hezbollah and Israel, after a resurgence in aggression from pro-Palestinian militias the day after war broke out between the Islamist group Hamas and Israel in the Gaza Strip, on October 7th. EFE
