In an interview with O Globo, Claudia Rodrigues said she will undergo surgery to correct some consequences of multiple sclerosis, a disease she was diagnosed with in 2006. The hope is that after the procedure, the actress will be able to return to work. “I’m very excited. This operation will cure my consequences. It’s great,” she said.
The operation will be performed in the US between March and April. Adriane Bonato, the actress’ friend, explained that the surgery is new and uses technology that doesn’t require opening any part of the patient’s body. “The doctor maps the body, sees the lack of vitamins, etc. to bring the person back into balance. It’s all done by software. There is no anesthesia, no incisions. Nothing invasive,” he said.
The investment is high as expected the operation will cost US$5 million or R$26.5 million. To pay for the procedure, the actress put some of her properties up for sale. “We just have to adjust the pay. Also because with the expected improvement she will get back to doing what she likes the most which is her shows and she will start making money again. I’m going back to work too. And we pay for it,” said Adriane.
The plan is for Cláudia to return to the stage two days after her sacking, Adriane revealed. They want to put on a show where they can talk about the disease and bring a word of hope to people. “Me and she will be on stage talking about multiple sclerosis, the treatment so far and the results she has had. The idea is to use them as an example to contribute to other people,” he said.
