Singer-songwriter Claudio Baglioni responds to criticism of dinner with Elly Schlein. On April 5, he spoke about the secretary of the Democratic Party after meeting her briefly at Fabio Fazio’s: “She seems an interesting person to me. But I’m confused about putting all hope in one leader, we’ve done it with others in the past and then seen it didn’t work. Then, on April 18, Il Foglio reported on a dinner at the home of the author of A Thousand Days of You and Me in Parioli with other guests. Of the caliber of Paolo Sorrentino, Dario Franceschini and Carlo Verdone. Today Baglioni talks to La Stampa about this dinner: «It’s my birthday in 12 days. I don’t think I’ll be eating dinner and if I do there will be far fewer people than last time. But I want to say that all the people who were in my house that night were guests in exactly the same way. I have never made rankings between one guest and another ».
Baglioni says: “Unfortunately, these are our times: even having dinner, it’s like having to put on a helmet to enter a barricade of the thousand wars that are fought every day, stupid and senseless, that feed the public with banality. And they also make trivial certain journalists that I valued. When I read certain things, I begin to doubt that even what is written about the world has the same dignity and value».
Then Baglioni reveals a background related to cinema and his desire to be called to acting. Even if it has never happened before: «No, and I would like to. In fact (smiles) I make these dinners on purpose. I invite Tornatore, Muccino, Verdone to write scripts because my dream is to become an actor. In the 80’s they offered me a fantasy film, then I proposed to Lucio Battisti. Kind of an ante-litteram crime novel with us two delinquents and then one of the two died. He jumped because he and I didn’t want to die first.”
