OutKick founder Clay Travis conducted an experiment over the weekend in which he offered various cans of free beer at a concert and concluded that drinking Bud Light in public is now taboo.
Travis posted several videos of his cooler throughout the night as a “weekend experiment” at a concert in the Nashville area. The experiment allowed those who passed to “choose the beer they wanted.”
“Nobody would take the Bud Light all night long. A big problem for Bud Light going forward is that many don’t even want to be seen with the product. You just pick another brand,” he said.
The first video he posted, starting at 6:45 p.m., showed his cooler full of different beers including Michelob Ultra, Yuengling and Bud Light. Towards the end of the evening at 10:15 p.m., he posted a second video in which the cooler appeared to only have Bud Light cans left, suggesting that those who took free beer would only choose the other brands.
“I’m no marketing expert, but the only beer left,” he said, is Bud Light, adding that it’s “not ideal, not good” for the brand.
In a subsequent tweet, he commented on how Bud Light’s recent scandal has been an “unlimited disaster” for the brand.

“The overall usage of Bud Light is now down 26%. This is an absolute disaster for the brand. And many are now avoiding the beer to avoid being mocked for drinking the beer,” he tweeted.
“There is no quick fix here, the brand is being slaughtered in the beer drinking communities of the Red States. Bet there aren’t many in SEC tailgates this fall.”
Bud Light faced massive backlash after a marketing stunt involving transgender activist Dylan Mulvaney.
The company created a commemorative beer for Mulvaney to celebrate the activist’s first full year of “girlhood.”

Mulvaney, who has been interviewing President Biden, recently made headlines for suggesting it should be illegal to wrongly gender transgender people.
The company also faced backlash when its marketing vice president, Alissa Heinerscheid, said in an interview that she was inspired to update the beer company’s “fratty” and “out of touch” humor with inclusive messages to attract younger customers .
Heinerscheid and her boss Daniel Blake have since been put on leave.

Travis spoke about the social impact of the scandal in the United States in a recent interview with Fox & Friends.
“I think for Bud Light this is an absolute disaster that is entirely and entirely self-inflicted. I don’t really know how they’re going to get out of this mess because now people make fun of other people when they see them drinking Bud Light,” he said.
While Travis noted that Bud Light was once the popular choice for a casual beer, “a lot of people now when they go to the bar or go to the grocery store and buy beer, they think to themselves, ‘I’m not going to buy anything but Bud Light.'”
He added that other big companies should be much more careful about offending consumers.
“I think this is a warning to all the brands out there who have learned over the last 20 years or so that there are no consequences for waking up super when you’re trying to appeal to the extreme left in this country,” he said he.
