On the night of Friday to Saturday, shortly after 1:20 am, the cantonal emergency call center in St.Gallen received a report that a person had climbed into a train carriage at the railway station in Gossau and been electrocuted. The 18-year-old Swiss was taken to hospital in critical condition.
An 18-year-old Swiss man was with colleagues on the premises of the Gossau SG railway station. Apparently, he climbed onto the roof of a freight train car just before 1:20 am. There he was electrocuted in the power line area and thrown away. The young man was seriously injured and caught fire. Two of the 18-year-old’s colleagues immediately provided first aid. They suffered unspecified burns.
The seriously injured 18-year-old was immediately taken to the hospital in critical condition following first aid by the medical staff. His two colleagues, aged 18 and 19, also received medical attention and were taken to the hospital.
In addition to several patrols and the forensic competence center of the canton of St.Gallen police, two ambulances, an emergency doctor, the transport police, an SBB intervention team and the PEH psychological first aid team were on duty. .
