CM Punks side reportedly backed down from claiming Young Bucks

CM Punk’s side reportedly backed down from claiming Young Bucks kicked in the locker room door, Bucks and Kenny Omega have yet to hear from AEW

During today’s Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez was asked about Wade Keller’s recent statement that things are trending for CM Punk not to return to AEW.

Earlier this week, Keller said the following regarding punk not being mentioned during AEW Dynamite when Ian Riccaboni discussed the ROH title’s lineage:

“I think that’s remarkable, but not surprising [that] he ruled out the name of CM Punk when talking about some of the biggest names to have held the title,” Keller said. “That’s a bit too much. As I spoke to Jason Powell about this yesterday – I don’t expect CM Punk to wrestle again in AEW. I’m not saying it’s 100 percent certain, but everything points to some sort of takeover of his contract. We’ll learn more about this situation at some point.”

Alvarez said the following on WOL today:

“I heard Wade was speculating about a buyout, and let’s put it that way. I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised, but nobody, nobody, nobody is talking right now. So it’s all speculation. Nobody says anything.”

Alvarez continued, “The thing about the brawl is there really aren’t two sides of the story anymore. For a while there were two sides to the story, but now both sides are pretty much in agreement that CM Punk took the first hit. The punk side pulled away from the kicking in the door thing [The Bucks] didn’t kick in the door. The Young Bucks walked into the room. They didn’t just walk into the room with the general counsel. They walked into the room with the head of legal (Megha Parekh) and the head of talent (Christopher Daniels). So they don’t kick the door down, and like I said, both sides agree that they didn’t kick the door down. Really the only disagreement at this point is whether the Bucks were aggressive? Punk’s side admitted he took the first punch. The only difference of opinion is whether he actually feared for his safety or just started hitting?

“Apart from that, all pages are on the same page. I don’t expect to see CM Punk back in AEW. I don’t know anything about The Bucks and Kenny Omega. I don’t know what you’re thinking right now but I know it’s been a long time and nobody communicates with anyone about anything. It must be frustrating. So I don’t know what they’re thinking right now…”

“When they’re working on a buyout for punk, there’s some communication. They don’t work out a buyout with anyone and don’t communicate. As for Kenny Omega and The Bucks, from talking to all sorts of people in AEW, no one bothers to tell Kenny Omega and The Bucks anything. Nothing. They’re 100 percent in the dark… I don’t know what the future holds for anyone.”
