According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), global coal consumption is likely to be higher this year than ever before. Experts predict that fossil fuel consumption will exceed 8 billion tonnes for the first time in 2022 and is about 1.2% higher than last year. According to an annual report published on Friday, coal consumption is likely to remain at that level through 2025.
“The world is close to a peak in fossil fuel use,” quoted IEA Keisuke Sadamori, director of energy markets and security at the agency. Coal consumption should be the first to decline, but they are not ready yet.
