There have been many conflicting reports in recent days about Cody Rhodes’ status and there has been much speculation that he may not be returning to WWE after all.
Bodyslam.net reported this week that talks between Rhodes and WWE “have hit a dead end,” but Dave Meltzer stated on Friday that Vince McMahon didn’t think the talks had fallen through a couple of days ago, with Meltzer telling the Wrestling Observer newsletter that creative worked on things for Rhodes.
Ringside News, through a staff member of the creative team, added that Rhodes was named to the WrestleMania roster.
Meltzer tweeted the following: “Definite change in Cody/WWE status. Creative was told last night.”
Meltzer then elaborated in a message on the F4W message board: “Creative was informed last night of Cody’s status change from confident to uncertain.”
F4W writer Ryan Fredrick had this to say on the board: “It’s clear that he got a big offer from WWE when his contract expired, the announcement came that he was leaving AEW and the original offer he got was cut and he was offered less. moment when he might not even go. Pure Vince plays there. Cody lost his influence when the announcement was made to leave AEW.”
At this point, it doesn’t look like Rhodes is blocked from returning to WWE. If so, it would open the door for him to return to WWE or fight elsewhere. What is clear is that Rhodes did not sign with WWE. Let’s see how it turns out.
Certain status change for Kodi/WWE. Creativity was told last night.
