SANTO DOMINGO.– The Emergency Operations Center (COE) reported that 6,221 people are deployed to assist citizens traveling to the United States Basilica of Our Lady of Altagracia, Province of La Altagraciacommemorating the anniversary of the protective mother of the Dominican people.
The director of the COE, Juan Manuel Méndez García, said that from Friday January 20 at 2 p.m. and until Saturday January 21 at 6 a.m., a road prevention device will be installed to speed up response measures to possible incidents .
Méndez García indicated that the operation will cover from the Juan Carlos Bridge, on Las Américas Avenue to the Basilica of Higüeyincluding the road sections connecting the provinces of San Pedro de Macorís, La Romana, El Seibo and Hato Mayor to La Altagracia.
“We have set up a roadside assistance device that includes pre-hospital care. For this we have 79 ambulances that are part of the facilities that are part of the operation, most of them are provided by the Directorate of Non-Hospital Medical Emergencies,” the director of the COE pointed out.
Additionally, 237 auxiliary posts are set up in the eastern region and a main command post in the basilica area, which in turn will have secondary command posts in each province of the above region.
