Cole Caufield is like a kid in a candy store

Cole Caufield is like “a kid in a candy store!” »

Cole Caufield leaves no one indifferent and he gets people talking about themselves even when he’s on the sidelines. From his first games with the Canadians, he has been in the spotlight, whether it’s for his goalscoring skills or his big ear-to-ear smile.

For Tyler Toffoli, Caufield is hands down the funniest person he’s ever met.

“He’s something!” dropped the current Calgary Flames’ top scorer during his recent appearance on the Empty Netters podcast.

Toffoli did not know Caufield until he signed his first pro contract at the end of his college career in March 2021.

“He drew attention in the dressing room,” says Toffoli. He spoke to all the players. Even Webby [le capitaine Shea Weber] said to listen to him. I said to myself, “What is this beginner doing?”

always awake

Caufield had played two games for Laval Rocket School Club before moving to CH at the end of the season, where he played ten games in which he impressed with four goals and one assist. The then 20-year-old, 5’6″ American had 12 points in 20 playoff games and helped the Habs reach the Stanley Cup Finals.

“I laughed because he was laughing and he was always giggling,” continues the author of 31 goals and 36 assists this season with the Flames. Looks like he’s still having the time of his life. I swear to god he’s like a kid in a candy store!”

“Every day before I even had time to finish my coffee, this guy would be so wide awake, and he was always on the verge of having his best days,” adds Toffoli.

The 30-year-old Ontarian will only have played about 60 games with Caufield and will be traded to Calgary in February 2022 for Emil Heineman, Tyler Pitlick and draft picks. But he will have had time to shoot a McDonald’s commercial with him.

As for Caufield, he was heading for the best season of his young career with a streak of 26 goals and 36 points in 46 games before his season ended due to right shoulder surgery.
