Coleen Rooney’s miscarriage left husband Wayne “destroyed” as she revealed he cried when they found out they had lost their first baby at ten weeks.
In fact, she was so distraught that she feared she would never be a mother.
The WAG told how thrilled the couple was when they found out she was pregnant a few months after their wedding in 2008.
However, their joy quickly turned to sorrow when Mrs Rooney discovered she was bleeding and they rushed to hospital to find the baby was initially fine.
“We were both overjoyed when I found out I was pregnant at the end of 2008,” she says in her autobiography, My Account.

Memories: The WAG shared how thrilled the couple was when they found out she was pregnant a few months after their wedding in 2008
“That was until I started bleeding one morning at ten weeks. After an examination at the hospital, the doctors told us that there was a heartbeat, but the baby was smaller than it should have been at ten weeks. I went home relieved.’
However, later that day Ms Rooney said she was bleeding again and so returned to hospital where doctors told her she had miscarried, saying: “Of course we were both devastated by the news.”
Ms Rooney also said she went home “shattered and empty”.
But it also touched Wayne, who had longed to be a father so much that he cried when they returned home to their Cheshire mansion.
Ms Rooney added: “It’s strange to feel all that excitement and joy only to lose it so quickly – a terrible experience that also knocked Wayne down by six points.”
“When he got back home that night, he cried. He desperately wanted to be a father and I could see on his face how devastated he was at the loss.
“It’s terrible,” he said. “I know you’ve had such a horrible experience, but it’s hard for me too.”
“I think he just needed to express his feelings, which he didn’t do too often. “It stayed with him for quite a while, probably until I got pregnant again.”
Shock: “It’s strange to feel all this excitement and joy, only to lose it so quickly – a terrible experience that will also blow Wayne away,” writes Coleen in her new book
Tough: Ms Rooney said she found it difficult to know what to make of her miscarriage but feared she would never become a mother (pictured after the birth of her seven-year-old son Kit).
Family: The couple are now parents to their four sons Kai (14), Klay (ten), Kit (seven) and Cass (five).
Ms Rooney said she found it difficult to know what to make of her miscarriage, but that she feared she would never become a mother – especially because, she says, her own mother Colette had difficulty getting pregnant .
She writes in her book: “This was my first pregnancy and it had gone wrong. I had to ask myself what that meant – would I be one of those unfortunate women who couldn’t carry a baby, who could?” You don’t have children?
“I thought about my mother. Although she never had a miscarriage, she really struggled to get pregnant – it took years and she had to undergo a lot of fertility treatments.”
A few months later, the Rooneys found out they were expecting their now 14-year-old son, Kai. When she found out she was pregnant again, she said, “This wonderful news spread again.”
