Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick still hopes to return to the NFL. Adam Schefter of ESPN he was told he was “in the best shape of his life” and ready to fill in for a team that needed a quarterback who wanted to win the Super Bowl.

Cap even recently contacted Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett to pitch the ball, and according to the seasoned pass catcher, he’s ready. A video from the practice has surfaced on social media and Kaepernick definitely looks like he can still throw the ball well. Training with Lockett is interesting as the Seahawks are now looking for a new quarterback. Last week, they traded Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos, and perhaps an old opponent could become a new teammate.

During Wednesday’s press conference, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said Kaepernick had recently contacted him and sent him a video from a practice session. Carroll said that Kaepernick deserved another chance in the NFL, but did not say that the Seahawks would give him that opportunity.

“Does this guy deserve a second shot? I think it deserves,” Carroll said. “Somewhere, I don’t know if it’s here, I don’t know where it is. I don’t even know if it’s in football, I don’t know.”

Kaepernick’s last shot in the NFL occurred on January 1, 2017. The quarterback, who helped escort the 49ers to Super Bowl XLVII, was given the opportunity to take part in a private practice hosted by the NFL in 2019, but he opted out and trained at another local club. field in Atlanta due to concerns about league conditions regarding the event.

There are many unknowns about Kaepernick’s situation when it comes to the level of interest teams have in him, but he’s still fighting for that next opportunity.
