Michigan vs. Alabama semifinal is full of storylines. The suspension of Jim Harbaugh, one of Nick Saban’s best coaching jobs, “Can Bama make it over Florida State?” Add in the fact that these two teams are the favorites to win outright, and it’s clear that all eyes will be on New Year’s Day will be focused on the Rose Bowl when it comes to the matchup between the Wolverines and Crimson Tide.

This rematch of last season’s Alama Bowl is a playoff semifinal no less interesting than the first. Honestly, it’s a game between two teams that many thought would make a mistake before getting to this point. Instead, either Washington or Texas will end up playing for a national title, depending on who emerges victorious in New Orleans.

Ohio State vs. Mizzou is something of a dichotomy when it comes to program interest. It’s safe to say that the Cotton Bowl isn’t exactly what the Buckeyes had in mind for this year. On the other hand, the Tigers will be excited about this opportunity to face one of the game’s best after posting their best record in nearly a decade.

In the third of three duels between the Big Ten and the SEC, Penn State and Ole Miss meet in the ATL. It represents quite a coaching meeting between James Franklin and Lane Kiffin as their programs look to earn their 11th and final win of 2023.

There probably isn’t a more depressing bowl on the schedule than the Seminoles versus the Bulldogs in the Orange Bowl. Florida State believes they should have been in the playoffs, while Georgia knows they should be there too after winning the last two national championships. However, if both teams put this behind them and perform like they have all season, it should be a great game in South Beach.

Oregon had its chance and missed when it came to the Pac-12 championship and a playoff spot. Now that those are off the table, all the Ducks can do is try to get their 12th win against Liberty, a team unblemished after the regular season and a Conference USA championship win.
