Week 3 of the college football season is here and there is a plethora of compelling encounters making the headlines for another wild week of action for fans. On CBS, No. 22 Penn State will be the first Big Ten team to play Auburn at Jordan-Hare Stadium when the two serve Saturday afternoon. In this Big Ten-SEC showdown, the Tigers seek revenge at home after a 28-20 loss to the Nittany Lions at Happy Valley last season.
Elsewhere, Oklahoma No. 6 will rekindle its rivalry with Nebraska and Miami No. 13 will travel to College Station, Texas to take on No. 24 Texas A&M. All sorts of chaos erupted during a wild Week 2 this past weekend, including at College Station, where Appalachian State outplayed the Aggies in a stunning upset.
Saturday’s drama should be in abundance, and below we’ve provided a handy viewer’s guide to help you navigate all the action. All times east.
The best games
No. 6 Oklahoma in Nebraska – Noon on Fox, fuboTV (Try it for free): Mickey Joseph will lead the Cornhuskers out of the tunnel and into the post-Scott Frost era after the legendary former Cornhuskers quarterback was fired on Sunday. He’ll see old Big 12 rivals Oklahoma on the other sidelines, and there’s no doubt that a win over one of the most enduring programs of the last decade would ease tensions at Lincoln.
No. 24 Penn State in Auburn — 3:30 p.m. on CBS, CBSSports.com, CBS Sports App (Free): This is a crucial game for an Auburn team that not only struggled against San Jose State last weekend but has a coach in Bryan Harsin who almost got fired in February. This could be a linchpin for aligning the program against a Nittany Lions team that would like to make a big statement in SEC country.
#12 BYU in #25 Oregon — 3:30 p.m. on Fox, fuboTV (Try it for free): The college football world seemingly wrote the Ducks off after they were smoked by Georgia in Week 1, but freshman coach Dan Lanning erased that disappointment with a win over a Cougars team Baylor starred in last week’s thriller won two overtime hours. If you haven’t watched Cougars quarterback Jaren Hall film, watch him.
No. 11 Michigan State in Washington – 7:30 p.m. on ABC, fuboTV (Try it for free): The Huskies lead the Pac-12 in passing, and the Spartans’ passing defense was their Achilles’ heel despite beating Pittsburgh in the Peach Bowl last year. We will know a lot about both teams after we should have a fun atmosphere at Husky Stadium.
No. 13 Miami at No. 24 Texas A&M – 9 p.m. on ESPN, fuboTV (Try it for free): This game was already dripping with intrigue due to the Aggies’ desperation after losing to Appalachian State last week, and the Hurricanes could make a statement with a win in SEC-land. Coach Jimbo Fisher has reportedly made a quarterback move from Haynes King to Max Johnson, fueling interest even further.
