Colombia and multipolar order: ‘soft coup’ against Petro could target Lula, Brics and China

The USbacked Colombian right seeks to split and cripple the “Historical Pact,” thus preventing its continuity in the future

Alberto Pinzón Sánchez, Resumen LatinoAmericano, via Southern Dialogues

Within the analytical spectrum of the left and also the critical theory about the current situation in which Colombia finds itself, explained by the “media soap opera” SarabiaBenedetti, which is directly related to the executive branch of Colombia and its President Petro, there will be two versions outlined, which, by reflecting the movement of reality, overlap or intertwine: one, selfcriticism, emphasizes the analysis of the mistakes made by President Petro in the selection of his closest collaborators. Furthermore, by separating the concept of government from the concept of the state, an attempt is made to introduce into the analysis the role of the diverse political front called the Historic Pact that led Petro to the presidency, while also considering the diverse social, peasant, ethnic and popular movement aspects.

Among them, I would like to highlight, among many, the classicist analytical contribution of Fernando Dorado, as well as the important reflection of the sociologist and journalist Sara Tufano.

The other, somewhat rooted in the analytical tradition of the left, focuses his analysis on the concept that has made a career in Latin America and the Caribbean, the “bland coup” behind which the US Pentagon is behind and recognizes the respected one Chief of staff along with the United States, the “Generalissimo” Mark Milley, who in his June 7, 2023 speech, described the other powers that make up the EuropeJapan Troika and other allied powers such as South Korea, Canada and Australia He explained: “The geopolitical situation is changing fundamentally … and every day it is becoming clearer that we are indeed in a multipolar international environment with at least three major powers: the United States, China and Russia.” And three is more complicated than two and certainly more complicated than one”… This suggests that the term “multilateral” is becoming shorter compared to the term “multicentric”.

Colombian context

In this second focus, it is worth highlighting the very important Colombian context (coca, the Amazon rainforest, internal conflicts, etc.), proposed and expanded by the wellknown Uruguayan journalist Aram Aharonian, founder of Telesul (North is South The Looking at a scenario on the Latin American and Caribbean continent reveals a number of concerns worth rereading (I quote in full) given the high likelihood that they arise in the global context addressed by General Milley:

PROCEED TO RECOMMENDATIONS

…There is no shortage of questions: does this point to a civil war in Colombia that will be limited to a Pedro Castillostyle sacking? A successful discharge would trigger a serious crisis that would lead to a resumption of the war. Maybe that’s what the United States wants.

For some analysts, behind the whole scandal is the hairy hand of the US intelligence agency, which needs to deal a blow to the progressivism that at least eclipses Lula’s inauguration in Brazil and promotes South America’s entry into the BRICS. With the United States’ urgency to stop China in its backyard, anything is possible. Not surprisingly, Benedetti asked the US State Department for protection.

The rightwing media are already constructing what they believe to be the biggest political scandal of the past 20 years. But the excitement will also have a chapter on the road.

The timing of this scandal, which touches on central issues of Petro’s government program, is so opportune that it can hardly be assumed that it was accidental. It’s also worth asking what a character like Benedetti, who is structurally rightwing and capable of taking center stage but for his own benefit, was doing in Petro’s government. Can you govern from the left with rightwing politicians in key positions?

The Americans have no choice but to go to the table and “Africanize”: the same thing they are doing on the “mother continent” to stop the Chinese.

This is not just any conflict in any country. It must be an explosion of megatons, a civil war in Colombia, affecting the whole environment: Ecuador (which escapes them), Peru, Venezuela and Brazil itself (a serious conflict in Colombia would “justify”) “the return of the doctrine of “national security” and the leading role of the military in national politics)….

There is no point in continuing to insist on the obscure designs of the obscure Benedetti. If an animal walks like a duck, it has duck feathers, it swims like a duck, and its flat yellow beak sticks out like a cuac, cuac, that’s simply because it’s a duck.

This is what former President Ernesto Samper reminded us of in the midst of the socalled 8,000th trial in the mid 1990’s and if we keep our distance the image is to be applied to Mr. Benedetti (to the Colombian “man”, not the Uruguayan writer): When a “Barranquilheiro man” talks like a paramilitary, has orgies and has paramilitary hair, wears white powder, acts like a paramilitary bully, has friendships with paramilitary clan leaders Da he does business with paramilitaries, the Colombian Army and the US Army (see here for a detailed account of Mr. Benedetti’s dealings) and otherwise acknowledges his close ties to the American DEA, it is very likely that he is a paramilitary. with an obscure paramilitary mission in Venezuela (gathering information?), for which he was “appointed” by President Petro. In the face of so many casualties, and given the complex scenario of ColombianVenezuelan relations and the turbulent continental scenario mentioned above, we have the right to wonder how it came about and what to do?

The deep magma that fueled the Colombian War is intact to this day, possibly closer to a volcanic eruption. The important and liberating agreement between the Colombian state and the ELN on June 9, hailed by all serious world public opinion, was arrogantly labeled “chimbo” (a derogatory word of sexual origin used in Colombian slang to denote fraud, fraud, etc.). designated and despotic political boss of the rancid Colombian transnational oligarchy Vargas Lleras.

The addicted false media continue their antiPetrist campaign and, for example, have already neutralized the importance of an indepth discussion of what was signed, spreading the news of the “miraculous” rescue of the children that the jungle could not swallow .

At the same time, the process of organizing the “Military Party” based on retired military personnel and reservists (Pinzón Bueno?) in the different regions of the country goes on uninterrupted, with the increasing conspiratorial activities of the hairy right, uribismo, santismo, the lerismo, the right Social Democracy (Claudia López and Fajardo) and others unite their ranks every day to continue their intrigues, conspiracies and confabulations with which they want to overthrow Petro, but above all they want to split and paralyze the “Historical Pact” and thus its continuation in the prevent future. It is the dark, destabilizing magma of a possible major military operation, as suggested by the aforementioned journalist Aharonian.

If Colombia isn’t just any country, what do we care about Sancho?
