The US capital will host the meeting, which runs through tomorrow, to assess cooperation on issues such as Comprehensive Rural Reform, Climate Action and Curbing Deforestation, Just Energy Transition, the Global Drug Problem, Security and Immigration Issues.
This is the main meeting point between the two countries to review the issues on which the bilateral relationship is focused, the statement stressed.
As part of the dialogue, the ministries of justice, science, education; Housing, City and Territory, and High Commissioner for Peace Danilo Rueda, along with other senior government officials and their US counterparts, discuss issues of common interest in the seven working groups that make up this bilateral mechanism.
As part of the program, Colombia and the United States will also address aspects related to health, sports, science, culture and infrastructure; democracy, human rights and justice.
The high-level dialogue was established in 2010 and has since become the main body of political relations between the two countries to address issues of mutual interest, agree on areas of work and specific programs for bilateral technical cooperation, the text reminds.
With this mechanism, they could work on: economic, social and health opportunities; Public Diplomacy; Environment and Climate Change and Energy, Mining and Infrastructure.
Also in aspects like democracy, good governance and human rights; Security, Drug Control and Rural Development and Migration.
