Colombia will host the VIII Puebla Group Meeting

The VIII Puebla Group Meeting will be held on November 10-11 and will bring together more than 100 leaders from Ibero-America in the Colombian city of Santa Marta, the organization reported today.

The meeting will address current challenges, promoting inclusion and developing a progressive agenda, the body said in a statement.

The event will be attended by former Presidents José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero (Spain), Ernesto Samper (Colombia), Dilma Rousseff (Brazil) and Evo Morales (Bolivia), among others.

For their part, Presidents Alberto Fernández (Argentina), Luis Arce (Bolivia) and Xiomara Castro (Honduras) will participate via digital platforms.

Confirmation is also awaited from one of the group’s founders, Brazilian Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

The motto of the meeting is “The region united by change” and its celebration in Colombia was decided after the election of Gustavo Petro as head of state.

Founded in Mexico on July 30, 2019, this organization is made up of 60 leaders from 17 countries. Its objectives include strengthening Latin American unity and supporting efforts to ensure democracy and self-determination of the peoples.

In addition, she denounces the legal prosecution and advocates the implementation of a system of development solidarity to overcome inequality.

It has three organizations that reinforce its work: the Latin American Council for Justice and Democracy, the Ibero-American Parliamentary Group and the Academic Committee. (Latin press)
